Unico is designed for all university and college students. However, at the moment, Unico is still in its early stages, accommodating only students from the University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN) specifically, those at the Edgewood, Howard College, Pietermaritzburg (PMB), and Westville campuses, can register and sell on the platform.

The documents that are required to become a seller on Unico are proof of registration at UKZN, a clear photo of your student card, and a copy of your South African ID.

The products that can be sold on Unico are lightweight items that comply with Unico’s rules, including, but not limited to, hair and beauty products, fashion and accessories, perfumes and fragrances, electronics and gadgets, food and drinks, study essentials, gifts and custom items, homemade crafts, wellness and self-care products, and other lifestyle items.

Unico prohibits products that are illegal, counterfeit, or stolen; drugs and related items; unsafe goods; adult content; alcohol, tobacco, or vaping products; expired or unregulated food and supplements; items violating privacy or intellectual property rights; and currencies, gift cards, cryptocurrencies, lottery tickets, or gambling products. Listings that break these rules may lead to account suspension or removal.

On Unico, sellers are responsible for delivering the products they sell, ensuring they reach buyers safely and on time.

Unico’s return and replacement policy allows customers to return products that are damaged, incorrect, or do not match the description within 48 hours of receiving the order. Unico handles complaints and contacts the seller to ensure the replacement is processed promptly.

Selling on Unico does not require upfront payments or monthly subscriptions. A commission fee is charged on each product sold, which supports platform operations, secure payments, marketing, and seller assistance. Commission percentages vary by product price. You can promote your products on Unico through the homepage slider, pop-ups, and the Best Products carousel (featured products). Currently, Unico has not yet opened these advertising options, but notifications and updates will be shared as soon as they become available.
